This film is based on the amazing life of Georg Julius Justus Sauerwein(born 1831 in Hanover, died 1904 in Christiania/Oslo), the son of an German priest, and his lifelong love for Princess Elisabeth of Wied, afterwards Queen of Romania.

Directed by renowned Norwegian Filmmaker Anne Magnussen. This film is a psychological drama about a brilliant but complex man. His humanitarian values which were far ahead of his time. Based on Sauerwein's letters and other written sources. This film is narrated from his perspective and also merges classic fairytale with documentary realism, both in script and visual design, pushing the boundaries of documentary. The technique used in the film is known as rotoscoping and Director Anne has worked with a number of well-known Lithuanian actors to bring the people connected to Georg Sauerwein to life. Furthermore, Fumi Studio animated these characters at their studios in Poland, placing them on realistic backgrounds. This film was directed using backgrounds in Romania, Norway, Lithuania, Germany and England.
